To the people of the Occupy movement weather you be in Canada, America, the UK or elsewhere:

It has been said from the beginning that this revolution will not be broadcasted. This holds true for the movement itself. The part that has been broadcasted has been intended to hurt us from the beginning. The only time any media outlet will give the occupy movement the light of day is when there are riots. No matter if it was started by the police force or not, they will paint the picture that it is us that is out of control. They have done this before.

Remember back at the G20 summits. When protesters would not cause any disturbances, they sent in cops dressed as protesters to cause violence to make it seem as if the protesters were rioting so the police could move in and start making arrests and that the media could label them in a negative light. Fortunately in this day and age, we have a powerful tool. Videos were posted of groups of people catching these policemen in the act, cornering them to prove that they were policemen.

We cannot let them get to us in this matter. We have to crack down on policemen trying to bring us down. They do not like peaceful protests as they are not used to mass groups of men and women marching in unison. These men and women in uniform, although on one hand are part of the 99% are being payed by the 1% to find a way to put a stop to this movement. They shall not prevail unless we let them.

We must find it in ourselves to remain peaceful in these times. If we are not peaceful, they win. That is when they can move in and start shutting everything down. That is why they try to force everyone into a corner where the only thing that we can do is riot. The longer we remain peaceful, the more frustrated they get. We cannot afford to make mistakes like that this early in the movement. So I ask everyone who is involved around the world to remain peaceful and patient. If we keep marching in the same direction, I believe we can overcome anything.

The 1% are our number one enemy. The bankers and big corporations such as TD Bank, , Royal Bank for a few examples here in Canada. They control all the power at this point. If they want something to be passed in Canada, they have the power to do so. They can control the government to do as they wish. We must take away their power. Without power, they have no control over how this country is run.

To those of whom want this movement to swing in another direction for what they want to focus on. I ask you to join us as your passion will not be forgotten. It has always been stated that things get accomplished when everyone is focused on the same goal. Believe me, I know what it is to be passionate about something as I have been waiting for this time to come for almost a decade. My passion and my views are no better or important than yours. But at the same time, I strongly believe that this movement against the bankers and elite will help bring forth chance for the better for everyone. When this goal has been completed, it will become easier to gain better and more effective focus on your passion. That way we can focus on your goals beside you instead of too many different goals at once. If everyone focuses on a different goal at the same time, it becomes a weak focus that can hurt the causes instead of strengthen them.

In closing, I stand with the 99% and will be with you along the way. With a united front we cannot be defeated. As John F. Kennedy once said. “There are risks and costs to a program of action, But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.”

With so much going on lately around the world, I figured I’ve kept quiet for long enough. The first thing that I want to speak about is the Occupy movement that has been rising around the world lately. It started with Occupy Wall Street or otherwise known as OWS to people in Twitter land. To those who have been paying absolutely no attention to the internet or the news the past few months, there has been a movement that started out small but has grown to the point where the mainstream media cannot ignore it anymore. The main frustration out of most of these protesters is that 1% of the world population controls 40% of the money in the world. The old saying of “the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer” cannot be closer to the truth than it is today. With any of the Occupy protests, you will see signs saying “We are the 99%” above many others.

Protests have been happening for most of the year starting in the middle east. What no one seems to be talking about is the fact that Obama and the White House were supporting all these protests demanding that the leaders that the people were protesting against step down. Several months later, Protests start brewing in New York and soon starting popping up in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and now across the rest of America and Canada. The tides have changed and white house representatives are not impressed. One Republican front-runner (Herman Cain) for the American Presidential election has come out and told OWS protesters to and I quote “go home and get a job and a life”. These are the same people who he is hoping to possibly vote for him come next year. Nice way to kiss your presidential dreams good-bye Mr. Cain.

But enough about America. They have their own problems and I’ll likely touch on that on another date. How about we talk about what’s going on at home. Occupy PEI. Yes, even little ol’ PEI has gotten involved with the Occupy movement. I applaud the people who are involved in this as it shows that even PEI has gotten fed up with everything and they want to see change happening for the better. It also in a way shows the world that if PEI has had enough, then something has really gone wrong as we’ve always been considered fairly easy-going and we don’t let too much bother us when it comes to world events.

From the Occupy PEI Facebook page, it states that “We are a grassroots organization of concerned citizens who have come together to discuss the social, economic and political issues negatively impacting our lives.” With that I say it’s about time that this has happened in PEI. For too long, no matter what political party has gotten in, they did as they knew they would not be held accountable by the general public that voted for the in the first place! There has to be a group of people who can be the voice of Islanders and if that voice isn’t inside Province House, then why not just outside the Province House doors? This is exactly where they have done their protesting in the past, and with the fall session beginning, I hope they continue to do their protesting there as eventually if there is a large enough body of people, their voice shall be heard.
